I knew nothing about photography when I started this class. This class has taught me that there is a lot more to photography that I first realized. I learned about the rules of composition, different photography techniques, and the exposure triangle. I learned about the different parts of a camera and how they work. When I first started this class it seemed really difficult and challenging to learn all of the material for this class. But as I completed each project, it started to make more and more sense. One of my best and worst photos. We also learned about photoshop. The first assignment that we did was pretty challenging. It was difficult to learn a completely new program. However, I soon got pretty comfortable with the photoshop and began to make more and more advanced edits. Here is one of my favorite pieces of work that I photoshopped. I have enjoyed taking this class. I learned almost everything I know about photography in this class. I have made some memorable experiences and photographs in this class that I won't forget. I will use the skills I have learned in this class to become an even better photographer.
In this assignment we had to take a photo with Mr. Bush riding his bike in focus while the back ground is blurry. I learned what settings to use to create a motion blur effect. It was difficult because it was so bright that we had to use a slow shutter speed which limited the blur effect.
In this photoshop assignment, we were tasked with taking multiple photos of a subject without moving the camera and merging the photos together to make it look like there are multiples of the subject. This was confusing to do in photoshop, but I managed to figure it out. I learned how to use a layer mask in photoshop.
In this photo assignment, I decided to do animals. I took pictures of the only animal I had access to, my cat. It was difficult to get good photos because of the background and having the cat look at the camera and stay in the right position. I learned that it is very difficult to get good photos of animals. Editing: I boosted the highlights
In this assignment we were tasked with making portraits of people using two different techniques. In one of the photos, we took a picture with studio lighting. In the other photo, we used a window with a bounce board.
I decided to do nature for photo number 6. I traveled to Mill Pond park to shoot photographs for it. For most of the water shots, I used a low shutter speed to get a flowing effect. l learned that you can use a very low ISO and a small aperture when shooting outside because it is so bright. Editing: I increased the clarity and I decreased the whites.
In this assignment, we were tasked with creating a photo in photoshop using a guide found on the internet. I found a guide of how to create a watercolor effect in photoshop. I decided to "paint" Michigan colors around a helmet.
Link to the tutorial - https://design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/create-cool-watercolor-effects-in-photoshop--psd-193 I decided to do a black and white photograph this week. I shot mostly instruments because they looked cool and gave a lot of contrast. I started with photographing my piano but then moved on to my dad's guitars. I learned that you can improvise and the photo will turn out fine. Editing: I changed the photo to black and white.
