In this project we were tasked with taking 5 different panoramics. I learned that you need to take a much taller/wider photograph than you want because a lot of it is going to be cut off. I also learned how a panoramic photograph is made.

I decided to do a macro shot of a strawberry. I chose a strawberry because it had really interesting textures and I thought it would look cool. I set the strawberry on a plate and put it in front of a window to get the maximum light. I learned that to shoot macro, you have to be really close to the object you are shooting. Editing: I boosted the whites, increased the clarity, and added more contrast.
In this assignment, we were tasked with taking a picture of the school and editing it to change the context of the high school, while still making it look as real as possible. I decided to put all of the characters from Family Guy into the Gym.
I decided to do a light painting of Michigan. I also did some light painting of my name in cursive. To guide me when tracing Michigan, I used a large string art map that was hanging in my house. I used a small pen light to trace it. I learned that it can be difficult to do make it look how you want. Editing: I boosted the darks and the shadows.
In this project we were tasked with removing the distractions in the background and making the car look better. I removed the light glare on the hood and tinted the windshield. I also made the background completely black.
I decided to photograph food and take some photos of Cheez Its and Strawberries. I had seen some photographs of Cheez Its and I thought I would try it. Unfortunately, most of them came out blurry and were unusable. I also decided to take some pictures of some strawberries. A few of these also came out burry but most were usable. I learned that if you want to take up-close long exposure shots, you need a tripod or else they will be blurry. Editing: I added more contrast and clarity and I tinted it blue slightly.
IntroI decided to have still life be my topic. I used a glass paperweight that I made for my subject. For some of the photographs I used a hand-held flashlight to light the paperweight but in other photos I used a desk lamp to get more light. I held the paperweight when I was using the flashlight but I set it on my desk when using the lamp. I learned that you should take more photos than you need because a lot of the photographs won't turn out how you want them to. Editing: I lowered the whites and increased the contrast.
Assignment DescriptionIn this assignment we were tasked with taking photos of the eleven elements of composition. The first six elements that we learned about were lines, pattern, texture, symmetry, depth of field, and rule of thirds. The second five elements that we learned about were framing, perspective, space, balance, and color. Photo SamplesWhat I learnedI learned that the dfferent elements of composition are very important to making a good photograph. I also learned that a good photograph doesn't have to include every element of composition and that it can use as few as one and still be good. I learned about the eleven different elements and how to use them to make a photo look good.
